State Senator Jonathan Harris (D, West Hartford) is working to pass new legislation to legalize MMA in Connecticut. Proposed Bill #422 - An Act Concerning The Regulation of Mixed Martial Arts Matches seeks to change current CT statutes to allow for MMA events. Senator Harris’ office is spearheading this important effort and has set up the website, www.legalizemmainct.com to instruct fans how they can contact local legislators. While some MMA events happen on Indian land in CT, the sport needs full legalization so the entire nutmeg state can take part. Click through for links and exact instructions as to how you can help.

I am writing to ask that you support Proposed Bill No. 422 An Act Concerning The Regulation Of Mixed Martial Arts Matches. This legislation will allow the state to explore an incredible untapped revenue stream, while at the same time ensuring fighter safety.
Mixed martial arts has grown into one of the nation’s most watched sporting events and many states have already enacted similar legislation to regulate this sport. The professionals that compete are true athletes and local fighters should be given the opportunity to show what they can do in front of a hometown crowd.
Thank you.
